Dairy Products do Not Protect Against Metabolic Syndrome

A meta-analysis of intervention studies concludes that increased dairy consumption does not decrease blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids, or inflammation. But it makes you fat.

The health authorities recommend consuming 3 to 4 milk products a day in order to prevent osteoporosis, but also for the health benefits attributed to them. Thus, it is said that people who consume the most dairy products are protected on what is called the metabolic syndrome Rapid Tone Diet they would have less abdominal obesity, triglycerides, hypertension, cholesterol, and a sugar lower blood, therefore lower risk of type-2 diabetes and vascular disease. These potential benefits derive mainly from conclusions drawn from observational studies, which generally do not allow us to conclude that there is a cause-and-effect relationship.

To be clear, New Zealand researchers conducted a meta-analysis of intervention studies in which healthy volunteers consumed a surplus of dairy products compared to others who did not eat enough. or not. 20 studies involving 1677 participants were selected, with an average duration of 26 weeks. On average, dairy groups were asked to consume 3.6 more servings each day than the “control” groups.

Results: the increased consumption of dairy products led to a higher body weight (+0.82 kg, for lean dairy products and +0.41 kg for whole milk products) Rapid Tone Diet There was no significant change in waist circumference, blood glucose, cholesterol levels, diastolic blood pressure, inflammation (as measured by the C-reactive protein assay).

These results contradict the optimistic claims of the dairy industry (see here an article from CERIN which presents itself as ” the basis of nutritional knowledge of health professionals ” but is actually an emanation of the dairy industry), and nutritionists which are related to him Rapid Tone Diet

In particular, the industry has made a splash of a French study called DESIR , which it has been heavily promoted in the media  Rapid Tone Diet This study, which is not an intervention but observational study, was funded by the dairy industry, a piece of information generally ignored. One of the lessons, or rather a confirmation, of the New Zealand meta-analysis is that ”  industry-sponsored studies were more likely to report a positive outcome than studies that were not paid for by the industry.  “.

Dairy products have originally been  recommended by health authorities at a rate of 3 to 4 servings per day, under the pretext that they would prevent osteoporosis. But this assertion has never been verified, and is even regularly undermined.

To maintain its market share, the dairy industry is now putting forward other claims, focused on protein intake, thinness Rapid Tone Diet metabolic syndrome or the prevention of diabetes. However, it seems unlikely that an increased consumption of dairy products prevents the metabolic syndrome (disorders that do not exist in fact among people who do not consume dairy products like hunter-gatherers).
